Putting Jobs First: California High-Speed Rail Crosses 13,000 Construction Jobs Milestone

FRESNO, Calif.–The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) today celebrated the creation of more than 13,000 construction jobs helping build the nation’s first high-speed rail system, with more than 70 percent of those jobs going to residents of California’s Central Valley.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority Board of Directors this week stepped off their usual dais and onto a figurative train platform, holding their meeting in the same room as the project’s preliminary trainset white mockups and early conceptual 3D station renderings —a special first-time opportunity for the public, no train tickets required.

Meetings of the Board of Directors and of its committees are noticed and conducted in compliance with the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act. Board of Directors meetings are generally held once a month. Special Board meetings may be held as needed to address Authority business, but those meetings will be announced ten days in advance in compliance with the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act. View the Board Meeting Schedule and Materials.
